HEARING TESTING OF INFANTS
There is ample evidence showing that children with hearing deficits
benefit from early intervention. This information and the availability
of newer technologies form the basis for recommending that all newborn
infants be screened for hearing deficit.
We strongly recommend that infants less than 6 months of age have
a hearing test. The test costs about $45 and is covered by most
insurance and Medicaid. If you agree to having this done we will
send a referral note and you should call the Fort Missoula Hearing
Center at 542-5200 for an appointment. Indicate that you would like
to have an OAE hearing test done on your baby. OAE = Oto-Acoustic
Emissions
